The internet and social media are increasingly providing information and news to consumers, but that shouldn’t mean the end of professionals who provide services. It does mean evolving though to stay relevant.
Pauline Aunger, president of the Canadian Real Estate Association told the Herald Chronicle that real estate agents can offer something that the internet doesn’t – detailed knowledge of their market.
She says that while an internet search can give some of the basic information the skill of the realtor is in interpreting all the available information and knowing the inside story.
She also points out that agents look after the inspection and regulation side of transactions too. She says that doing it all yourself is akin to doing your own taxes; it may save a bit of money on the surface but can lead to costly mistakes. Canadian Real Estate Magazine
